Mapclick.com is a domain I registered a long time ago. Over the years I’ve experimented with various ideas for the domain. Its original purpose was as investment in a .com domain.
As part of HTC research I recently setup a hosting account to begin long term experiments on mapclick.com
The main catalyst for this action now is the availability of coding tools like Replit. Replit is a AI assisted coding environment. What that means is that you can type your idea in text and have the tool build your app. I experimented with Replit and was impressed. I’ve use other tools like chatGPT and Xai Grok to generate and modify code. Using these and my old trusty Notepad++ I’ve been able to generate simple scripts.
Mapclick.com is intended to be a collection of map related R&D, a place to experiment.

Some things lie dormant for a long time. There needs to be spark and a catalyst.
The spark I got was from listening to Peter levels, on Lex freedman, about this life developing. It rekindled some desires in me to create things. The catalyst is the AI tools now available to allow me to make progress.
I encourage you to use the free AI tools to try something you’ve maybe not tried in a long time. These tools can write any language you want. I’ve had it generate PHP, JS, HTML, Python and even things I have not used before like react. A powerful aspect of using the LLMs to code is that they can easily integrate APIs and other objects like openstreet maps.
