National Open Data Conference 2026 at Croke Park

The National Open Data Conference 2026 takes place on Tuesday 24 November in the Celtic Suite at Croke Park, Dublin. It is organised by the Open Data Team at the Department of Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform and Digitalisation. It runs in person from 10:00 to 14:30, with registration from 09:30. The theme is Unlocking Impact: Open Data for Trust & Transformation.

With Ireland holding the Presidency of the Council of the EU, the conference looks at open data as critical digital infrastructure: for better public services, evidence-informed policymaking, innovation and wider digital change. The programme runs across three strands, Open Data for Better Public Services, Open Data for Impact and Open Data for Transformation, with presentations, panel discussions and case studies. Topics include transparency and trust, Irish and European digital policy, AI, and public and private sector uses of open data. Further programme details are due before the day.

Why we're going: Swords Live, our own town on MapClick, already shows public data such as EPA air quality readings next to local stories and reports. MapClick keeps one sourced record for each real place, and every fact shows its source, so how public bodies publish open data matters to how we work. We are attending to hear where Irish open data is heading and to meet the people who publish it.
