Meditation: A starters guide.

? Meditation is a great way to improve the quality of your life but it’s over complicated and full of dogma. Here’s some things that work for me…

? Setting
A quiet place where you won’t be interrupted is best because it’s one less thing to distract you.

? Breathing is just for focus.
Your breath is just a metronome that you always carry with you. This exercise is not about changing your breathing, breath is just something to focus on.

? Be here now.
The goal of meditation is not to silence your thoughts, it’s to just sit exactly where you are and just be. Experience and feel exactly where you are. Not in the past, not in the present, not in the future. Just sitting.

? The practice of these three things together form my most basic method of mediation.
In summary your goal is to experience sitting exactly where you are. The setting prevents external distractions. The breath keeps your mind busy and prevents internal distractions.
Practice means repetition, do it often 1-2 times per week for 10 minutes. When you lose focus, just go back to breath, go back to experiencing sitting, there’s no failure, consistence in practice will work if you give it some time.

Practice often and I promise you’ll find a state and space that is truly worth being in. ????
